I think you can make any hero work if you put in the time. I'd take Arthas to wall out a comp of like 3+ melee threats maybe.īut you should honestly play what you want. Plus all of these heroes can be taken with a strong tank as well. But even in 'being good against melee' he is competing against things like Garrosh (I'd rather play Kerri into Arthas any day), Xul (strong clear, strong root with no aim, attack speed slow, slow aura), Leo, Maiev. There's definitely that perfect Arthas game.

I think every hero in the game is somewhat useful. So there's definitely some situations where he is good. His waveclear isn't very good, a lot of offlaners can play around him, and he doesn't bring explosive burst damage to a fight.Īrthas is pretty good against melees. The problem is he isn't actually a very good offlaner. Some people play him as second tank instead, to shore up his strengths. He has no escape, not that much sustain, and takes a lot of poke damage that he can't punish himself. I also feel like he is fairly easy to kill. He also has no stun, which means that for a lot of heroes, the CC he puts out is not always so threatening for him. He needs people to walk into his range, or he needs to use Sindragosa from an unexpected angle (meaning now he's probably not in front). His team also can't rely on him to set up kills. Ranged heroes kite him (if they play well) and they are the most common assassins you will see. Most of the time, low pick rate heroes have some successful one tricks, I dont remember ever seeing an Arthas main in masters with a win rate above like 60%.Īrthas is labeled as a tank but has a few big problems.
